My favorite blogger, John Cole at Balloon Juice wrote this today:

"Another day of crazy weather here. Fifty degrees in the morning, temperature dropped to about 10 degrees with whipping winds, then up a bit and snow with whipping winds. I’ve lived in this area my entire life, and I’ve never seen weather like we’ve had the past couple of years. It is changing right before our eyes, and there is a violent feel to the storms that wasn’t there even twenty years ago. But, you know, Al Gore is fat so climate change is a hoax."

I think he's right. What will really be interesting is how the world reacts when things keep on getting worse. I think I can safely predict that the other developed (and probably the developing) nations of the world may actually band together to belatedly find a real, scientific solution, while here in the Christian States of America, President Michele Bachmann will be encouraging us to burn witches to appease our angry God.

The best thing about climate change though, is that eventually, it will hit everyone. It may take a while, and a lot of people will die in an ugly way before then, but there will come a day when even the richest and most powerful among us won't have enough money or connections to hide from a global superstorm. Justice, at last, will be served.
