This is the second part of the series on mythbusting ideas about Canadian Healthcare. You can read the first part HERE.

Part II busts the myth that healthcare is naturally better when it's governed by the rules of free market capitalism. It also puts forward the common sense, but heretofore little discussed idea that a healthy populace and an efficient healthcare system are essential to national security. This latter point is especially important because "national security" is such a hot-button issue among conservatives.

Unfortunately, good healthcare as a key component of national security is an idea that I suspect many conservatives would find...how can I put this? Boooooooooring. It's got no bang, no sizzle, no zazz. National security is all about cool stuff like wiretaps and bunker busters and our boys kickin' ass in Kabul. It can't possibly be related to anything as yawn-inducing as keeping your citizens healthy or making sure we have an effective healthcare infrastructure. Man, that stuff is a snoozer. It's as boring as...as a slide show by Al Gore. As some Poindexter blabbing about levees breaking. As a summer-vacation memo that whines "Bin Laden Determined to Attack US." Yaaaaaaaaaaaaawn. Who needs this shit? We're Americans, damnit! We're kickin' ass! Bring 'em on! Dead or alive!!

Must read, Part II:
