Thoughts Before Going Offline

A giant thanks to everyone who posted such lovely birthday wishes for me last week!

Finally...I'm doing it. I'm reading Twilight. And it's worse than the movie, which I wouldn't have thought possible. Kristin Stewart at least brought a little bit of ingenuous charm to Bella but Book!Bella is quite possibly the most self-absorbed, shallow, judgmental, petulant and downright unpleasant creatures I've ever encountered in fiction. I wonder if it says something about our culture that a character who possesses virtually no admirable or remotely redeeming qualities is so widely accepted as a heroine.
Anyhoo...that's it from me. Be good, behave yourselves and have a lovely autumn. :)
