It's only Monday but I have to admit I'm on the edge of my seat for this week's episode of Supernatural. Because OMG Henricksen! And a full-on George Romeroesque demon attack! And Dean shooting stuff! And shackled Winchesters! And HENRICKSEN!

Breathe, Oselle. Breathe.

So we're officially halfway through Season Three (or what would have been halfway in a normal, strike-free season). At this point, I have to admit that I still have NO IDEA about the following:

A) How Dean's getting out of the deal.
B) What sort of infernal entity Sam's supposed to become this year.
C) Who the hell this demonking of the West is, if he actually exists.
D) What Ruby's story is.
E) Why Bela exists.

So, all of the above are kind of troubling because I don't think the writers can bring any of them to a satisfying resolution in the four or five episodes that are left, especially (A). But I've suspected since the end of last season that (A) is going to be the Season Three cliffhanger and that (B) through (D) are going to revolve around (A).

There will most likely never be a satisfying resolution to (E) unless she's written out of the show or reduced to an occasional voice on the phone. And even then she'd probably annoy the hell out of me.

The season's been kind of uneven and there were some real clunkers ("Red Sky at Dawn" is dead to me and I forbid it to be mentioned in my presence). But I know I did a heck of a lot of squeeing and flailing and bouncing up and down on my couch, so overall it's been a pretty good season.

Completely unsolicited, here are my Top Ten moments of Supernatural, Season Three, so far. Feel free to share your own.

10) Sam and Dean kicking ass with Bobby (and Bobby's most excellent Chevelle) in "The Magnificent Seven." There seemed to be a lot of disappointment with the premiere but I just loved this scene.

9) Sam's "I lost my shoe," and Dean's "Sonofabitch!" in "Bad Day at Black Rock." Highlights of the episode that sadly unleashed Bela upon the world.

8) Dean fast asleep at the end of "Bedtime Stories" as Sam heads out to confront the Crossroads Demon. I could probably watch a whole Andy Warhol-inspired hour of Dean sleeping, so any time the writers want to give themselves some time off...

7) The first time Dean "dies" during "Mystery Spot." I've known since seeing Ben die in the first season of Dark Angel that Jensen Ackles can pull off the deathbed drama like no one else, but whoa. Not a word, it was all in the eyes.

6) Dean explaining why he suddenly wants to celebrate Christmas in "A Very Supernatural Christmas." It's his last year, Sam! Give the man a frigging tree! Can't you see how sad he is? And how very, very hot?

5) The double-spoken face off in the diner during "Mystery Spot." As perfectly choreographed as a Marx Brothers routine, it was screamingly funny, both to listen to and to watch.

4) Dean giving Sam auto-shop lessons at the very end of "Fresh Blood." I was left a crumpled heap on the ground, making little high-pitched wibbling noises.

3) Dean's breathtaking and long-awaited breakdown in "Dream A Little Dream of Me." Oh, DEAN.

2) Sam charging out of bed and throwing his arms around his alive-again brother in "Mystery Spot." Oh, SAM.

And my favorite...

1) The poignant yet pathetic gift exchange and then the very last shot of Sam and Dean through the motel window at the end of "A Very Supernatural Christmas." Just perfect. I'll never hear Rosemary Clooney again without thinking of our boys.

You and I totally agree on number one. Damn, I need to watch that again. Christmas isn't that far in the past.

I'd put Dean's meltdown in Dream a little Dream at number 2, though. The hug was great, but man, I could watch Dean scream his rage and pain at the universe again and again. And the Demon Dean was icing.

Bad Day at Black Rock was a close third for me, just because it was so funny, watching poor Sam struggle with the world's worst luck.

Lots of good stuff in this season so far. Can't wait for the DVDs.

Your number 4 is my numero uno. God, and they did it just right, too, nothing OTT, it's just ... right.

And [livejournal.com profile] justforspite wrote this oh-so-angsty post-fresh-blood ficlet that has that scene in it. No worries, it's gen!

SPOILERS! To episode 9

We've only just had episode 9 (I don't know how that happened, because it was being streamed direct from the US when it started so we had the same episode in the same week as you, and then I know the strike was on but it only came back last week! Random.

Anyway, as far as I can see, Ruby was explained a bit in ep 9. She was a witch who sold her soul to a demon, so when she died, she went to Hell. After centuries in Hell, she became a demon. But she's a demon with a heart of gold because she remembers what it's like to be human. We discover that ALL souls who go to Hell eventually become demons, so all demons that walk the earth wreaking havoc were once humans. She informs Dean that yes, it'll happen to him, and no - there's no way out of his deal. So as far as I can see, Dean really is going to hell. I don't want to see it happen - but if this is the last season, it would make for a really original series end. Killing a main character with no way of a happy ending for him would shock.
As far as Ruby's concerned, the reason she's helping the brothers is because she wants what Dean wants - to get Sam ready for life without him, so he can continue fighting demons after Dean is gone. That's all I got for now!

Though the count down mostly has 'Dean' in them, I don't mind at all!

And also Dean bitten by Gordon. Guh.

My #3 and #2 were pretty much neck-a-neck because I loved them both so much but at that point of "Mystery Spot" I was practically screaming for Sam to hug Dean and when he did it was like the TV People were listening to the voices in my head so that's how it just managed to edge out Dean's devastating meltdown.

Watching this season on DVD without all those endless commercial breaks will be heavenly.

Heh, nice ficlet. Dean was like...the buffest Boy Scout evah. More like Fantasy Gay Porn Boy Scout if you ask me...

I just don't know if Ruby's "story" is what she says it is. She's already lied to Sam about being able to save Dean. Maybe she's also lying to Dean about why she wants for Sam.

I'm a one-Winchester gal but I think this is nicely divided between Sam and Dean. Of my top three, we've got one Dean, one Sam and one awesome duo moment. Bliss!

Well, if that's what she's here for, it sure is working.
