May. 22nd, 2008 10:45 pmI don't know why the hell I'm posting when I still have like 30 comments to respond to on the Misogyny thing. You people who get 50+ comments for every story you write -- how the hell do you keep up? I will never, ever say anything interesting again.
At any rate, rumor has it that Eric Kripke said Dean will be in Hell for "a long time." First of all, I take everything Kripke says with a big grain of rock salt. Second, "a long time" in Hell could be like...ten minutes on Earth. There is no time in Hell! It's eternity!
This made me think of something Stephen King once wrote...not in a work of fiction, but in one of his essays. I can't find it now, but he was talking about the crazy stuff he'd learned in Sunday School. One of his Sunday School teachers described Hell to the kids in this way:
Imagine a giant mountain. Now imagine that every thousand years, a bird comes and takes one tiny grain of sand from the top of that mountain and flies away. Just one. Every thousand years. The time it would take for that bird to shave a whole mile from the top of that mountain is the length of your first hour in Hell.
So you see, a long time in Hell is...quite relative.
