why was he doing that anyway, Dean was supposed to be dead!

That's exactly what caught my eye about this picture when I first saw it. It's clearly not a still from the episode because yes, Dean was dead by the time Sam got to him. So I figure this must have been something that was going on when they weren't shooting. They both look so serious, it just gives me goosebumps.
