Not just that, but change his understanding of himself as well. I'll feel much better about this episode if it really does mark a turning point for Sam, which would probably be a turning point for the fate of the world as well.
You need to figure that out and care for your brother here because nobody else will.
I think that this is who Sam was back in Seasons One and Two...and this is the Sam that fanfic writers have always loved. People are trying to cling to that Sam though he's long since ceased to exist and once again, I hope we've reached Sam's come-to-Jesus moment where he wakes up and realizes what he has to do.
And people wonder why people love Castiel so much.
God, yes. Castiel is just about the only character left to show a little compassion for Dean. Without him Dean would really be out on his own. I've heard more than a few people saying they want to see some comforting going on between those two. And not the slashy kind. Although that would be okay too...:)
