SPN 5:20 Questions + "Survivors"

The past two SPN episodes have so baffled me that I've resorted to visiting the TWoP episode forum in search of some clarification.

In my review of SPN 5:20, I bitched that the opening sequence -- which seemed to be all about the Croatoan virus -- went nowhere. One poster at TWoP pointed out that the Croatoan virus was about to be spread worldwide via the flu vaccine that Brady was producing at his pharma corp. This would make sense although now that Brady's no longer the point man on this project, what's going to happen? Is it already far enough into production that it will be released anyway without Brady at the helm? Has Pestilence infiltrated Big Pharma's HR department to install a new demonic executive? Bonus question: If all the Big Pharma companies were, in reality, run by demons...would anyone notice?

If, in fact, the opening scene foreshadowed how Croatoan is going to get out into the population, then I really have to give credit to any viewer who connected those dots, because IMO the scene got completely lost in all the business about Brady and angry Sam and Crowley chewing up the scenery. Yet another pet peeve about SPN -- things of great importance get buried under crap. It's like we're all being asked to play Concentration or something: Hey remember that thing that happened and was never mentioned again or even hinted at in passing? Well, ya damn well SHOULD'VE remembered it cuz it's REALLY IMPORTANT!!

I'm also kind of getting my viruses mixed up because I got totally into the BBC's post-apocalyptic pandemic series, Survivors, which started off very slow but then suddenly became wholly engrossing. If anyone watched that show and caught the season finale...what the heck does Tom think he's going to accomplish by stowing away in that dude's plane? He's just going to wind up in some Big Pharma green zone that's probably completely sealed off from the outside world and protected by rings of private defense contractors and high-tech security. I know Tom's a badass and all, but still.
