You're overestimating me! I picked Cairo because in legend (or theology, depending on how you look at it) the demon Asmodeus was banished to the Egyptian desert. Also, for the sort of grandiose, early 20th century aesthetic that I had in mind, I can easily imagine the architects picking a "fancy" name like "The Cairo." In a spooky coincidence, after I picked this name, I found out there was a real 1920s-era Cairo Apartments in the Washington DC area that had fallen into a similar state of urban decay (but no demons, as far as I know).

What's the Cairo Codex?
