it was scribed by a guy named ben Asher.

Well now THAT'S even spookier. I only came up with "Asher" because one of Asmodeus's other names is Ashmadaevi and I wanted some American-sounding variation of that, but this ben Asher business is just WEIRD.

If you're interested in this stuff, I highly recommend A Dictionary of Angels by Gustav Davidson. I bought this a good ten years before SPN ever existed, but it turned out to be a treasure-trove accompaniment to the show. I'm also certain the writers have a copy, because this book is the only place I've ever seen that identifies Castiel solely as "the angel of Thursday." :)
