The Life of Magical Thinking

Do you ever reach the point where everything has gone so wrong for so long that you begin to believe that it all means that something very good is bound to happen very soon? I think that's what they call "magical thinking," isn't it? And magical thinking never works out, does it?

On a completely unrelated note, I have, incredibly, only just now noticed how much Sera Gamble looks like all of those identical brunettes that have populated the SPN universe, especially the ones who wound up sleeping with Sam. Of course all of those women were actresses so they were all "professionally pretty" but Gamble is definitely in their mold if not in their league. It's like, if you were going to cast an actress to play "Sera Gamble," you could have picked any of those women. Including Genevieve Padalecki (nee Cortese). And to think, all these years I thought Kripke was responsible for the parade of lookalikes. Huh.

Well, it's kind of funny that the supposed great love of Sam's life was a bouncy blonde (back when Sera was just a staff writer), and all of his other love interests since then have been sultry brunettes.

Doesn't it though? I can't believe I never saw it before. I actually noticed it on someone's icon and because the pic was small I thought it was Genevieve at first. Now I know why they had to replace Katie Cassidy. How could they have put Sam in bed with an angular blonde who looked nothing like Sera Gamble? LOL!!

Hey, people have been saying for years that she has a huge crush on Jared. It's not much of a stretch to imagine she would cast professionally pretty versions of herself to play his love interests. Men do this shit all the time, and they don't even bother to find someone good looking to play their alter egos. How do you think ugly guys like Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen become romantic leading men? It ain't cause they're such heartthrob material.

yep, magical thinking has kept me alive and hopeful and then reality hits quite a lot and I sink into a bad depression. But hey, as long as I'm still willing to believe, then I'm all for magical thinking. Makes me think I might make enough money to live one day!

All I can say is doughy Seth Rogen playing a superhero? If nothing else proves that men run the entertainment industry, that sure does. Frankly I still marvel to this day that Michael Keaton was ever allowed to play Batman. Beetlejuice, yes. Batman? No. Just no.

I just never know if the magical thinking makes things better or worse. Facing reality is awful but sometimes it's better than having it crashing down on your wall of magical thinking all at once.

I dunno about magical thinking. I sort of gave up on that quite a while ago. About the time my husband got sick.

I had, until now, assumed that was mostly an intentional choice on Sam's part, deliberately *not* looking for girls who looked like Jess. Now, though... ugh. (Although I really did like Sarah.)
