I have a question:

I just changed my layout, if you've noticed, from that old S1 blue and white shit I've had forever. I really like it, it's so easy to read. But if I use a cut, everything behind the cut is LJ standard boring. Is there a way to make the stuff behind my cut look like my new gray-and-black layout? I have a Basic account so probably no bells n whistles, right?

I like the new layout. It's a nice change. I know there are some where you can choose the comment page to be in the same style as your front page, but I checked and didn't see a place to do that. Since they changed the customizations pages, I can't do anything with it anyway.

I suspect I have to have an upgraded account, either "Paid" or "Plus." Well, I'm not paying for this and I don't want any stupid ads on my journal so eff that.

I don't think it depends on whether it's Basic account or the paid one. It's the type of layout and the things it offers. What is the name of this theme, if I may know? Perhaps I can check.

I believe the theme is called "Nevermore." It's one of the free themes in the "Illustrations" segment. I really like the black-on-gray, I'd just love to be able to see it on my LJ-Cut and Comments page too. I am no good at this sort of thing so if you can be of any help it would be great!

Ah. Nevermore. An SPN novel. :)

You just go to the 'Customize Journal' and then 'Customize Journal Style'. In the 'Display', scroll down to find 'Presentation'. In the 'Basic Options' part, set the 'Disable customized comment pages for your journal' into 'No' mode. Here you will set the comment page into what your layout looks like, as well as the page behind the cut.

I hope you can follow my directions. Never good at doing that myself. :D

Ah. Nevermore. An SPN novel.

Is it really? I had no idea when I picked it I just liked the color scheme. Nice coincidence, though.

I'll try these instructions when I get home. Thanks!!

Hmm, that didn't work. I really think I have to have a paid account to get that fancy. Thanks anyway!

Oh, I'm so sorry. :(

But I still don't want to give up. Apparently I have a comm, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] that uses the same layout and the comment page is exactly like the layout. But then it's the one that has ads. :(

Yes, they want you to get those ads so that you can get more features. Phooey, I think there are enough advertisements in the world without having to put them on my own journal! Guess I'll be sticking with the default comment view then!

Just FYI, I was so curious about this that I sent LJ Support a message -- as I suspected, I either have to have a "Plus" account (the one with the ads) or a Paid account in order to change the look of my Comments/Cut pages. Phooey. Maybe I'll go back to a Paid account after all. Thanks for all your help, though!

In the mean time, I was trying to change the account of p_i_s_c_e_s to basic account but I couldn't. *g* I don't know until now how I can do that.

Btw, it's too bad it has to be Plus or Paid Account. That's strange because I used to have Basic but the comment page was okay. It used a different layout, though.

Don't mention it. It's for nothing.
