The CW is actually doing something RIGHT by Supernatural, airing a repeat of Season Two's awesome "Nightshifter" before this week's new episode, "Jus in Bello."

Not only does that give us TWO WHOLE HOURS of Supernatural, it also reintroduces us to the wonderful Henricksen, who'll play a key part in "Jus in Bello," and reminds less slavishly devoted viewers of just how the boys came to be on the FBI's Most Wanted list. Good for you, CW. Keep it up.

Tomorrow night looks like it's gonna be a textbook case of ass-kicking. I don't know how I'll handle having my ass totally kicked for the third week in a row. I may need some pre-show medication.

Just settle in and enjoy it. That's what I plan to do.

I'm just delighted that the show seems to have hit such a stride this season -- maybe the looming writer's strike made them tighten up the last few scripts they knew they were going to film?

Though I was thinking this morning that SPN seasons always seem to start off a little wobbly (at least I think so). The last half of the past two seasons has generally seemed better than the first half and I think the same thing is happening here, though on an accelerated schedule because of the strike.

Yeah, I think you're right. I know they've been concentrating on the boys and their relationship, and bringing Bobby into it more. Maybe they realized the girls weren't the draw for this show. They've got to realize their audience isn't boys and men. It's women.

I hope the trend continues. Someone told me today that Bela's going to be the catalyst for tonight's episode...she's the one who's going to rat them out to Henricksen. If that's true, then I hope the writers realize they absolutely CANNOT keep up with this cutesy relationship she's had with them. This would mark the fourth time she's set them up (with potentially lethal consequences) and there will be NO way to justify them ever treating her as their annoying but-gee-isn't-she-stylish "go to girl" after this.

The writers have had the unique luxury of being able to take three months off in the middle of the season. I hope it gave them some time to reconsider the season and some of the new cast members.

But eight episodes of crappy scripts? I've almost given up on SPN, almost, but not quite, because even though I think the earlier episodes sucked, I'm still very much into the fandom as a whole, the fics and I LOVE all of seasons 1 and 2. Well, maybe not 'No Exit'. That was the only dud in S2 IMO, amd none from S1.

I hope they won't mess up with the upcoming four new episodes.

There were some pretty decent ones in there in those first eight episodes. "Fresh Blood" was fantastic. I can't really remember them by number. I think "Fresh Blood" was Episode 7? Wait, let me see if I can do this from memory...

3.11: Mystery Spot
3:10: Dream a Little Dream
3.9: Malleus Mallificarum
3.8: Very Supernatural Christmas
3.7: Fresh Blood
3.6: Red Sky at Morning
3.5: Bedtime Stories
3.4: Sin City
3.3: Bad Day at Black Rock
3.2: Kids are All Right
3.1: Premiere/Magnificent Seven

Hey, not bad! Out of the first eight, you had two excellent episodes (Fresh Blood and the Christmas show), one decent MoTW (Bedtime Stories with bonus sleeping Dean!) and one truly godawful (Red Sky). I also thought the season premiere was pretty good, so there were only two that I was just "meh" about.

Malleus Mallificarum was also kind of "meh" but the last two have totally rocked my world.

Oh, lucky you!

Hm, why not with Folsom Prison Blues, too? Heheh.

Maybe I'll watch some Folsom Prison Blues on DVD from 7 to 8 pm as a warmup. I do loves me some caged Dean.

If it's as ass-kicking as it looks you'll be able to hear me bellowing across the Atlantic. Stick your head out the window oh, about 3:00 am your time.
