McCain on his Vice-President pick:

"The Presidency of the United States of America is the toughest job on the planet,” Sen. McCain said. “And my friends, the best testing ground for that job is being the mayor of a 5,000-person town in Alaska.”

Is this for real? Are we being punked? Did we suddenly sideslip into an alternate universe?

Fox News immediately dug up some "lifelong Democrat" woman who'd suddenly decided to switch her vote to McCain because he had a woman on the ticket. Is THAT for real? Yeah, I'm gonna go out and vote for this out-of-it country club jackass and his anti-choice, pro-creationism, card-carrying member of the NRA running mate because there's someone with ovaries on the ticket. Jesus H. CHRIST.

But it apparently is working. My dad is a lifelong, diehard Republican, and he's crowing about the new running mate - thinking it will sway me and my mother into voting McCain.

I think most folks'jaws still haven't returned to normal position. She strikes me as The View's Elizabeth Hasselbeck on steroids, and I'm probably going to loathe her in due proportion.

The most annoying thing is you know they'll be tons of focus on just these kinds of women. I read somebody saying there were 2 women in her office now considering voting McCain because of this. But there seriously just can't be that many women who would actually do that. I think it's more of an evangelical thing than a woman thing.
