For Your Reading Pleasure!

As some of you know, sometime around 2003 the awful [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr destroyed my life by sharing with me her outline for a Faculty AU story she called Birthright, in which Casey is shipped off to a mental hospital run by a shadowy government conspiracy and Zeke rescues him and they spend years of angstful life on the run. The concept consumed my brain and [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr and I basically spent the next two years of our lives writing Birthright fiction, to some acclaim.

What you poor benighted souls don't know is that [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr and I were so bananas that there were numerous stories we wrote and shared only between ourselves or under a filter. [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr has complied ALL of the Birthright stories onto her new website and you can now, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, read the complete Birthright and all related short stories, drabbles, AUs and music mixes here, at Birthright: The Complete Series.

People, I can't begin to tell you how much entertainment is contained in this never-before-seen compilation. All the angst, all the hurt/comfort and all the just-skirting-around slashiness you ever wanted, now in one place! You simply will not find better value for your intarwebs time than this! If you like pretty guys in pain, random acts of boy-hugging and, if I dare say so myself, some damn good fiction, you absolutely must visit Birthright: The Complete Series.

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! Not to leave you Supernatural fans out in the cold, she's put up three never-before-seen Supernatural scripts, two of them co-written by [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr and me, and one of them written by yours truly. While these are straightforward spec scripts and therefore don't have all the no-holds-barred bells and whistles of fanfiction, they're still a pretty good read and hey, none of us got a full season of SPN this year so we've gotta fill in the gaps somehow. You can check them all out, along with [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr's Supernatural fanfiction on her website's all-new Supernatural page.

In addition to Birthright and Supernatural scripts and fiction, you'll also find all of [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr's Lord of the Rings and Firefly fanfiction. Busy gal, that [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr. How she finds time to do all that and still ruin my life I'll never know.

Enjoy!!

I told Baylor, and now I can tell you, I've been telling folks about Birthright for a long time, and I'm delighted to be able to rec it now, and le them read for themselves. I've read some of it, and it definitely holds up. I have quite a few Faculty fans on my flist and I know they'll be happy about this. Thank you both so much for writing Birthright.

[identity profile] oselle.livejournal.com 2008-09-02 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Some of them are actually better than I remember. You're welcome...this had always been a labor of love for both of us.

Oh wow, it's the grand opening of The Birthright Legacy Library!

It's going to be great fun to revisit some of these and explore the stories I've not seen. Thank you!

**glances around warily**

I'll just sit quietly and read while I eat eats my puddin, I will.

Is it okay if I prattled on a bit on whether or not there's any implied slashiness between Casey and Zeke on my LJ, because of 'Hot' and 'Tummy' OMG, and of course 'Christmas Minnesota' and 'Paradise'.

And you just about killed me when Zeke bought that trailer *sniffles*

[identity profile] oselle.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Oh please...prattle away. Although of course the implied slashiness was wholly intended purely coincidental.

[identity profile] layne67.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Oh good, thanks. Thought I'd ask first, I don't want you or Baylorsr to get offended or something :)

[identity profile] juliebeth.livejournal.com 2008-09-02 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you for posting that. I remember reading some of Birthright back in the day. Good times!

[identity profile] oselle.livejournal.com 2008-09-02 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Those WERE good times. Long time no see btw!

[identity profile] juliebeth.livejournal.com 2008-09-02 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh, I'm around, still in Germany. Not a lot to report lately, as life is just about consumed with work and the ungrateful nags. I live vicariously through everyone else's LJ entries.

[identity profile] oselle.livejournal.com 2008-09-02 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you're lucky you're in Germany. Sounds better than here right about now.

I'm all ready to save them all! :D

[identity profile] oselle.livejournal.com 2008-09-02 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I think she'll be leaving the site up now, but saving stuff you like is always a good idea. I know I've lost track of dozens of great stories because I didn't save them.

[identity profile] ficwriter1966.livejournal.com 2008-09-02 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I printed out "Omnis Legio" because I was in the mood for some teleplay. Nicely done! I love the use of "Lilith's Agent." Great pacing, lots of mystery - it's dynamic in a way some of the actual season-closing episodes weren't. I would love to have seen this as an ep (instead of, say, "Ghostfacers," which I absolutely loathe).

[identity profile] oselle.livejournal.com 2008-09-02 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I could have tolerated "Ghostfacers" in a normal season of 22 episodes (although all the gay love "hilarity" was way over the top and kinda vicious, if you ask me), but I never expected them to come back from the strike with a measly four episodes left to wrap up the season and lead off with slapstick. It just felt like a complete waste of time. Frankly I was a little disappointed with almost all of the post-strike episodes, I just wanted more tension, more sense of impending doom and up until the finale it just wasn't there IMO.

"Omnis Legio" kind of violates a rule of spec scripwriting because I basically kill of a recurring character but a) she's a demon so "dead" is kind of a gray area and b) the show went ahead and did that themselves! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

ohthankCHRIST. i have SO missed being able to rec the Birthright stories, and i was just thinking about zeke and casey today. i know i fangirled everywhere when y'all were posting these originally, but i honestly, truly *love* this 'verse even though it breaks my heart (yes, i've already made myself cry re-reading some of the vignettes.)

not checked out the SPN stuffs yet - will comment once i've read those, but am already looking forward to reading them.

... did someone mention fingerpainting? *hopeful face*

[identity profile] oselle.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Fingerpainting AND puddin!! Your jooth-cup runneth over!

[identity profile] oxer12.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I know what I'll be doing this weekend!!

THANK YOU both for putting this out there for everyone to see. It really would be a crime for everyone not to have the change to read it, enjoy it, and love it as much as I have. Can't wait to read the new stuff!

You guys are the best. :-)

[identity profile] doroa.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 03:24 am (UTC)(link)

Oh, thank you to both of you! For writing and for putting it all up again :)

*hugs*
