John Cole Tells it Like It Is

The fabulous John Cole over at Balloon Juice sums up Sarah Palin in the only way that fits:

Sarah Palin is the distilled essence of wingnut. She has it all. She is dishonest. She is a religious nut. She is incurious. She is anti-science. She is inexperienced. She abuses her authority. She hides behind executive privilege. She is a big spender. She works from the gut and places a greater value on instinct than knowledge.

And most dangerous of all, she is supremely self-confident to the point of not recognizing how ill-equipped she is to lead the country.

The only thing I'd change about the above comment is the word "dishonest." It's just too elegant. I prefer "liar." It's a nasty little word that suits her perfectly.

Someone asked me if I'm going to watch her on 20/20 tonight. No I am not. Between her vicious performance at the Republican convention and her blathering Charlie Gibson interview last night, I've seen all I need to of this awful woman. She needs to be shipped back to Alaska without delay. This grinning fruitcake so little deserves to be in the White House that there should be a restraining order keeping her from even standing outside it.

She looks like Karen, from Will and Grace, and pretty much acts like her too, without the sleazy charm.

I'd rather see Karen as Vice President than this broad.

It's chilling that it's even a possibility that she could end up in the White House...

What's just as chilling is the blithe gullibility of the American people who have clearly been so charmed by this lying lunatic's cute hairdo and glasses and "smalltown ways" that if the election were held today she would be in the White House.

Sarah Palin is George Bush in a skirt. With a twist of Dick Cheney.

I think she's actually a little scarier than either one of them because I think she really is a religious fanatic. I think Bush was a believer in a tooth-fairyish sort of way and Cheney's sole interest in religion is as a tool for suckering the rubes into voting against their own interests but Palin's an actual crusading nutjob who'd probably be delighted to institute a modern-day Inquisition to bring back them "old fashioned values." And when someone's that much of a fanatic, there is literally no wrongdoing that they cannot justify to themselves as being part of "God's plan," whether it's firing a smalltown librarian or forcing rape victims to bear children or pushing the fucking button in hopes of bringing Jesus back. HOLY shit.

She needs to be shipped back to Alaska without delay. - but we *like* alaska, don't we? couldn't we send her somewhere else instead?

I like Alaska when it's about hunky guys on crab boats. I'd prefer if they keep their fringe-dwelling politicians, from Sarah Palin to Ted "Series of Tubes" Stevens to themselves.

Oh thank you, thank you for this! Exactly what I needed (I hope you don't mind if I pass it on to friends and family?). I only watched snippets of her Charlie Gibson interview on Good Morning America - I'd have to say she didn't come off that great. But for some reason, McCain has slithered ahead of Obama? WTF??

Please, pass this on to anyone you'd like.
