I really enjoyed that.

The plot sort of fell apart for me at the end there. Dirk sort of reminded me of Nelson Muntz on The Simpsons and while both Nelson and Dirk are secretly troubled kids who can't really help being bullies...I don't think that either one of them would identify with nerds. I mean, that was the idea here, wasn't it? That Dirk came back and possessed nerdy kids so that he could punish jocks and popular kids? Yeah, I just didn't buy it. It was also kind of unbelievable that Dirk would have seen little Sam Winchester as either a bully (in spite of his mad street-fighting skillz) or one of the "popular kids." I mean for heaven's sake, Sam attended that school for what...two weeks? It takes years to establish a high school pecking order. Sam wouldn't have gotten there after two weeks and after beating up one bully.

Nevertheless, who cares because DEAN IN SHORTS. And OMG JENSEN IS BOWLEGGED!!! I mean, it's getting worse, people. I didn't notice it as much during the infamous lederhosen scene in "Monster Movie" but those athletic shorts OMG BOWLEGGED!!!

The 21 Jumpstreet line had me in hysterics and I don't know why. Something about Dean's delivery of "The bus driver's selling pot," was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on this show. Other high school pop-culture references, though...I know Dean has probably killed a lot of time watching TV in shitty motel rooms but I really don't think he'd have much knowledge of either Heathers or Dead Poets Society. Especially the latter. And especially not enough to quote it, for heaven's sake.

But DEAN IN SHORTS.

I already loved the kid who played Sam from back in the Christmas episode and I thought the kid who played Dean pulled it off really well (although he really did look a little old to be in high school). We all know what Jensen looked like at that age and no, Brock Kelly is not as pretty but then again...who could be? Come on. Jensen was just...inhumanly pretty at that age. Still is but in a different way and NOW WITH BOWLEGS.

I thought this was also a really well-shot episode. There were some scenes that I found exceptionally striking and engrossing especially DEAN IN SHORTS.

Overall, really loved it and thought they did a great job with our first canon glimpse of TeenChesters...of course with all the TeenChester fic out there they would have absolutely no excuse for screwing this up. It's not like it's unexplored territory.

In conclusion, DEAN IN SHORTS.

Remember Jensen grew up in Texas, they ride horses befor they walk, all that riding,no wonder he's bowlegged.

He's from a suburb of Dallas I don't know how many horses they ride there but who cares IT'S ADORABLE. MORE SHORTS PLZ.

I dunno... I've seen him ride and I think I can confidently say that he's not in any way an experienced rider. At all. Probably has been on a few rental string rides like most people, but clearly didn't grow up on the back of a horse. More's the pity, because that would be the hottest thing EVER, but I just find it kind of miraculous when he did that horseback media clip in the Days era that he didn't come off and crack his head open. :D Seems to have good balance. I would be happy to give him lessons in technique. He can come to my house anytime. I will find more ways to increase his bowleggedness. For oselle's benefit, of course. I'm giving like that.

my favorite part of this ep was youngSam's actor. That kid is PHENOMINAL.

I didn't notice Dean's legs because I was too busy staring at his package. >.>

Why couldn't Jensen himself play teen!Dean? It felt so very wrong seeing someone else in that leather jacket, unless it's John Winchester.

I have to admit that Jensen would have a pretty hard time passing for 18. Sure, they can do all sorts of camera and makeup tricks and I'm certain that Jensen could have pulled it off acting-wise but let's face it...he looks his age. In fact he looks a little bit older than his age. He doesn't have the soft features or the slender build of a teenager anymore and I think it would have been really distracting to see him try to look like one.

Dean does look older than 30, but that's to be expected, but Jensen as himself looks young, Oselle, much younger than 31. Yeah, I guess it'd be too much to pull-off, him playing an 18-yr-old, but still, I can't help wishing!

Jensen does look a little younger than Dean but I think that has more to do with Jensen's demeanor and bearing being so different from Dean's. But I don't think either one of them really looks younger than 30. I don't mean that in a disparaging way at all -- maturity suits Jensen very well and frankly, I think he's even more attractive now than during his hyper-pretty late teens and early twenties.

Great ep, and I was hoping for a quickie shot of Daddy Winchester, but I guess he's too busy being dead ghost Denny over at "Grey's" to bother with SPN anymore.

My sister pointed out that "Amanda Heckerling" was a shoutout to Amy Heckerling, of "Clueless" and "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" fame. Yay!

"Heckerling" is such an odd name that I can't imagine they picked it at random. Did you notice from the blackboard in Sam's English class that they were studying The Outsiders? That was on purpose too, since S.E. Hinton is an admitted fan of the show and even paid a visit to the set just a few months ago.
