SPN Canon Check

I need a canon check on some Supernatural continuity:

I've gotten the impression that until the time-travel events of "In The Beginning," Dean never knew what had happened between Azazel and the infant Sam. Is that correct?

However, Sam did know, but only because he saw it in a flashback/vision in "All Hell Breaks Loose" (Azazel himself never said anything to Sam about it). And Sam never told Dean what he'd seen in his vision. Yes??

You've got it correct. Dean didn't know until the time-travel episode. And then Sam accidentally spilled the beans (I believe later that episode when Dean was back) and Dean was pissed at him for not telling him earlier.

I remember when I watched "Metamorphosis" I was kind of surprised to realize that Sam had never said anything about the demon blood to Dean. I could have sworn that Sam had told him and that it was a continuity glitch but I'll go with the canon on this one.

Sam is full of secrets. I'm pretty sure he also didn't tell Dean about all of his mother's friends being killed.

That would be correct. Azazel himself told Dean that he would give Sam demon blood.

But Azazel never said anything about it to Sam, right? Sam only knew from his vision?

Right. Azazel kind of just took Sam back and let him watch things play out. I haven't gone back and checked, but he might have said a little more to Dean than he did to Sam.

I don't remember if Azazel actually said anything, but he was there when Sam saw it.

Of course it's Lazarus, I've forbidden myself from writing anything else until that's done. Jeez, only one chapter to go after all.

But did John know about it? What exactly did he say to Dean in IMTOD? When he said that Dean has to kill Sam if he couldn't save his brother? I've always thought that John told Dean about Sam having demon blood in him.

See, that's the thing. We don't KNOW what John said to Dean, we only know what Dean later related to Sam. And even with the scene between Azazel and Dean in "In The Beginning" it's not entirely clear that Azazel is saying something that Dean didn't at least know something about. But I'm sure that Sam never said anything to Dean because at the beginning of the next episode, Dean is surprised to learn that Sam knew about the demon blood, and had known for a pretty long time.
