Wow, you know, wow. I'd really like to know how it's possible that I can work with someone who conducts herself like a pissy little teenage drama queen and be told that it's because she's "frustrated" by the sort of work she has to do -- which is, primarily, my work.

Excuse the fuck out of me. Since when is it any company's or supervisor's responsibility to make certain that an employee's work is tailored to her particular taste, or else have to tolerate that employee not only having a shockingly uncooperative attitude but producing shit work as well? Hmm? The work is the work. It needs to fucking get done and that's all there is to it. And anyone who doesn't find it entertaining or fulfilling has a responsiblity either to put up with it -- quietly -- or get the fuck out. I'm sick of this shit. I'm sick of coddling little pissant brats and tiptoeing around their delicate, presumptuous, self-entitled sensiblities and trying to ensure that they "enjoy" their work enough to do a good job. I've hated every goddamn job I ever had, and sure as shit no one ever went out of their way to cater to me or make sure that I was entertained -- nor would I ever, in a million years, have expected anyone to do so. I dealt with it or I left. Period.

Good-fucking-night.

I don't think it's just a younger generation thing because I work with a woman who is in her 50's and if I looked under the dictionary for "uncooperative" or "anti-team player" - I'm sure her picture would be there. Today, like most days that end in 'y', she reminded me what a petty, control freak she is. Grrrr.

Additionally, she does nothing but complain about the work she does. So I am totally with you on the - if she doesn't find it entertaining or fulfilling has a responsiblity either to put up with it -- quietly -- or get the fuck out. But I doubt that'll happen - she's planning on retiring from this gig. Double ARGH!

The only thing I have going for me is that essentially she's sort of afraid of me - mostly because I try to call bullshit on her attitude. But lately, I'm just tired of it. We are all trying to make ourselves look good to ensure we are employed - can't we agree as a team that we all need our jobs? - I guess I missed the memo that stated it's "everybdy for themselves."

Oh yes. The wandering-around-doing-fuck-all-while-you-bust-your-guts-and-who-has-hissy-fits-if-you-protest person.

Clearly they are universal.

I'd be happy to take her job if she doesn't want it. I don't even care what it is. Does she not realize that unemployment is reaching an epic level? I spent ten years as a corporate web designer and I can't even get a job at fucking Taco Bell. If you'd like, I'll come and punch her in the face for you. :D

Absolutely! You're paid for your time, regardless of what you're asked to do. Do it or leave.

This is the type of thing people say is generational, but I don't agree it is either. There have always been people either raised or born to think if they're entitled to only do what they enjoy. It's just ridiculous when they're not born with billions of dollars as well so they don't have to get jobs. What is it Tom Sawyer says? Work is what a body has to do, play is what a body wants to do? What does she not get about the work part?

This must be universal - we have one too (sitting right behind me as I type and telling us how much harder it is for her. *sigh*)

I've often wondered why the rules seem to be so different for some people. If I went on about stuff to the degree that she does I'd be o.u.t. But she garners sympathy. I don't get it. And, yes, it sucks.
