My old partner in fic and general numbskullery, [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr has redesigned her fiction website and it is fabulous and super-easy to navigate. You'll find fics in fandoms including Lord of the Rings, Firefly, The Faculty and of course, Supernatural.

The Faculty category contains the complete, unabridged "Birthright" and all companion stories written by Baylor and me. "Birthright" was our constant labor of love for nearly two years and it occupies a very dear place in my heart. There are elements of "Birthright" that are so oddly similar to Supernatural that I can honestly say without "Birthright" I may never have become an SPN fan.

In the Supernatural category you'll find all of Baylor's SPN stories along with two original spec scripts co-written by both of us and one written by me. You'll also find Baylor's truly amazing SPN podfics, including all near-seven hours (!!!) of my story, "Lazarus Came Forth," along with a soundtrack of all the music she used in the podfic, featuring artists from Patsy Cline to Led Zeppelin. If you can get through Mindy Smith's "Come to Jesus" without bawling, you might want to get your heart checked to make sure you have one. If you've read the story or listened to the podfic and can STILL get through Mindy Smith's "Come to Jesus" without bawling like a WEE LITLE DIAPERED BABY you may actually have no soul. You can download the soundtrack from iTunes because Baylor is so fuckin clever like that. I encourage you to check out ALL the soundtracks because Baylor has a great knack for finding unique and unexpected music to work with all her different fandoms. I've been listening to Baylor's soundtracks for years and am consistently surprised by the gems she finds and how fitting they are to their subjects.

There's also a piece of NC-17 J2 filth, thus reflecting the AWFUL CORRUPTING INFLUENCE of Jared & Jensen on a nice girl who used to write hobbitfic.

You'll find all this and more at: Fanfiction by Baylor.

I read two of her stories just now. "Sir Dean the Valiant" and "A Christmas Carol." Absolutely delightful, both of them. Thanks for this link -- lots to explore.

You should know that "A Christmas Carol" is based on a real place where we vacationed in Minnesota and that Kenny was real and did indeed have a habit of materializing out of nowhere leading to many jokes about how the owners of the house would one day tell us that "Kenny died ten years ago" or something like that. [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr is great...I'd just avoid heading into the northern woods with her.

Thanks - both based on real events - ask [livejournal.com profile] oselle to tell you about the Evil Dead up in Minnesota, and me crawling into the wood cellar. I still say caretaker Kenny was a ghost. [livejournal.com profile] liptonrm can tell you about the kitten bite - clear through my finger.

That light was the only thing that saved us from the Evil Dead, and you know it.

Birthright remains one of my all-time favorite fics in any fandom, to this day. Tremendous work!

We loved "Birthright" like our own child! So glad you recall it fondly.

Thank you for the heads up. When I first started reading The Faculty fics, [livejournal.com profile] layne67 pointed me in the direction of "Birthright" by sending me some of the stories in MSWord file, and I instantly fell in love with the story and the way it is narrated. When I wrote to Baylor about it, though, she did not exactly hint that the day will come when I can read all the stories in that 'verse. So...yay for today! With soundtracks to boot!

Yes, this is the complete, authorized "Birthright," every single story, ficlet and drabble that we ever came up with. Enjoy!

Went on a brief fanfic binge a few months back and in looking for old favorites ran across her Firefly fic - great stuff! So different from her LOTR stuff and yet equally brilliant. The idea of offering soundtracks is keen - either that wasn't there before or I breezed right past it.

Thanks for the reminder. :)

You're right, I don't think the soundtracks were on her old site. They're terrific selections and always fitting to the story. Have fun!

When you see it all put together in one place like that, all that work, all that detail, all that crazeh, it really makes it clear, doesn't it? -- I haven't had sex in a really, really long time.

Yeah, I can pretty much track the progression of my mounting agoraphobia by the length of those stories.
