Follow-up to my post yesterday. The nitwit in question responded to my email by saying this.

"WE ARE ALL VERY BUSY and you took it the wrong way. I am certainly a team player and have been one for 8 years. The next time you need something mailed, ask Rob to do it."
Now. Few things here. One, I really expected her to cool off overnight and then come in today and say that she didn't know what had gotten into her yesterday and she'd been a jerk and she was sorry. Obviously, no dice. Two, I really love that bit about how it was me who "took it the wrong way." What way was I supposed to take it? She practically assaulted me with a media kit, yelled at me and then stomped out of my office like a teenage brat. I don't think there's much room for interpretation there.

But the best part is saved for last -- I'm a team player so don't ask me for help.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!! My friends, THAT is comedy gold!

That's it. She's dead to me.

Me to your coworker: "The irony, let me show you it."

LOL! What a tool.

Uh, ah. Okay, along with the genuine hilarity of her response -- I mean, come on, really it IS funny, no lie -- her ass needs writing up, pronto. I have absolutely no idea if y'all do that at your company, but this here is one out-of-control bitch. If the task is within her job description, and she refuses to do it, then hell, there's gotta be somebody out there with a decent resume who WILL.

Realizing, of course, that you know all this already. I just -- wow, that's pretty fucking breathtaking.

There's no "writing up" at my company. It's hardly even a "company" it's more like...a motley crew of misfits who now and then show up in this midtown building and wander around aimlessly from office to office reading takeout menus and putting on a sort of "work" improv and then every six weeks a magazine somehow gets spit out by the six or so dupes who actually do all of the work. Which in a way is kind of why I like it there but as I said to my sister...there's a big difference between "fuck this place" and "fuck YOU" and she just went way over into "fuck YOU" territory and fuck THAT, she's dead to me. Dead, I tell ya!

Ah, yeah, I work at a monster corporate hospital, so it's all formal and shit. *nod* Well. Actually I'd rather work at your company than mine, so. ::scratches head:: Sounds kinda cool.

In a bizarre way it is kind of cool, but it also means you have to put up with some very borderline psycho behavior and can't do anything about it. I just think (and again, maybe this is JUST ME) that even in a place like this, one can and should maintain a minimum level of professional decorum, if for no other reason than to stay in practice for some day when you might no longer work in a sideshow.

No matter how casual your workplace dynamic, bullshit like this bitch pulled is way out of line. Man, this so sounds like time for revenge. What type, no idea, but ugh. I cringe thinking what she might do next time. WTF.

Okay, when I read it the first time I totally missed that line. But since reading it a second time I have been laughing.

You need to put that up at your desk or something. Much better than those "Your problem is not my emergency" joke xeroxes.

Also, sucks to be Rob, apparently.

Rob's a whole other story. He'll give you a ridiculously complicated, virtually nonsensical 15-minute explanation of why he CAN'T do something (really more like, why something simply cannot BE done by anyone, anywhere, under any circumstance)...and then he'll do it. Also he used to wear mesh football jerseys to work with no shirt under, a practice he has since discontinued. A couple of months ago he apparently had to have all his toenails removed. It's all very disturbing.

Do you guys ever have "staff meetings" (talk circles, kaffe klatsches, daisy chains, whatever the term is nowadays)? Could you all talk about what you want the tribal policy to be about sharing various mundane, but essential, tasks, and maybe even unambiguously assigning some of them to specific people? It seems to me that this group has reached a toxic level of decentralization.

PS: That bitch needs to be toast.

We have meetings all the time but none of them ever mean anything except for the same six people who do all the work.
