That episode was such a throwaway that I can't find anything to say about it but what I do want to know is WTF is up with that "SOON" coming attractions crapola at the end? Are they seriously going on hiatus after FIVE episodes?? Or are they at least gonna throw us a few new ones during November sweeps before blowing town from Thanksgiving until after New Year's?

JEEBUS, I hate the holidays and every year they seem to come sooner and last longer.

Well, I'll say one thing for H1N1, my son's still so knocked out by it that after a day at school he was asleep long before 9pm, so I got to watch the ep in real time for once--had to be this episode, though, huh? On the other hand, I don't have to waste $1.99 buying it from itunes...

I have nothing to say about it either, except Paris Hilton was kind of entertaining, and I was really surprised there weren't more after effects from Dean's trip to the future. So now we know that Sam knows about Dean breaking the first seal (I'd forgotten this was even an issue, bad fangirl that I am), but did Dean tell Sam he seen Lucifer in his body?? Was he even thinking about that? Hard to tell.

I think they wrote themselves into a corner: it's clear why Sam wants to be back with Dean, but Dean, as far as I can tell, doesn't have any motivation to be back with Sam, except to keep an eye on him (?). And he missed him? Again--not much evidence here...

You know what the ep needed? Yup. *points to icon*

I'm not a fan of celebrity stunt casting and figure if they've got to do it, they should keep it to a brief cameo. But Ms. Hilton took up about the last 10 minutes of the episode and, IMO, stopped being remotely interesting after the first 30 seconds. The Sam and Dean "meaningful conversation" scenes were not only not meaningful but virtually senseless. Even that whole bit with Gandhi -- um, Gandhi is Sam's idol? When does Sam practice passive resistance in between all the blood drinking and demon stabbing? BZUH!?!

This one's going up on the Wall of Shame with "Red Sky at Morning" at "Route 666." Even a THIGH HOLSTER couldn't have saved this turkey.

Oh, and I didn't know your kid had H1N1 -- that SUCKS. I hope he's feeling better!

Well, I'm assuming it was H1N1, they aren't testing here much. But literally half the 3rd grade had it, and it's kind of early for seasonal flu. And it was definitely flu--fever, coughing AND throwing up, yuck! BUT--it only lasted 3-4 days, which is what they saying is typical of H1N1. I kind of hope it was, and that the rest of us built up some immunity by being around him, since "if it be not now, 'tis yet to come," and all that.

But yeah, in the way of 8-year-olds, he's pretty much fine now, thanks. (thank goodness, since he was starting to list boredom as one of his symptoms).

Hated the episode; the MOTW plotline was weak and the ending pretty much destroyed any emotional growth I'd seen in either brother this season. Everything is back to being Dean's fault. Whatever.

Is it hiatus again? And almost nothing in the montage looked that interesting.

Yeah, kind of disillusioned about Show right now.

That coming attractions montage was extremely weird -- I was talking about it with someone in my office and we both wondered why all the clips looked like they were from comedy episodes. Usually they throw in a little white-knuckle dramatic stuff to whet our appetites but everything there looked like it was lifted from the pages of crackfic -- Dean gets magically aged by 25 years? SPN re-imagined as a sitcom? Sam on some sort of Japanese game show? Huh?? And I have no idea what was going on between Sam and Dean. Those bits were just shoehorned into the episode and sounded more like quotes from a TWoP message board than real dialogue. Weak, weak, weak.

Snort, OMG you're right. That might just explain it.

Normally I don't mind when they throw in a MOTW episode in the middle of the larger story arc, but this one left me...meh. It just seemed TOO throwaway, like, what's the point AT ALL?

I know I keep harping on this, but I've given up on Dean ever getting any sort of real apology from Sam, even though Dean keeps apologizing over and over, while Sam takes it as his due. And I like Sam!

Let's face, it was going to be difficult to top last week's awesomeness, but it's like they didn't even try.

Yeah, just give up on that. I mean it's true that Sam has said "I'm sorry" several times but Sam's apologies rarely seem heartfelt and I don't know if that's the way they're written or directed or acted or what, but when Sam apologizes he sounds more like a kid who's been forced to do it to get out of hot water. It definitely seems like it's up to Dean to carry the contrition (and blame) on this show, while Sam just finds excuses for his behavior instead of taking responsibility for it.

What made it worse was how sloppily those scenes were written and worked into the episode. I kept hearing it paraphrased in lolcats speak:

SAM: Oh hai I gots 2 stop bein ur lil brother.

DEAN: OK Sam, iz all good now.

Whatevs.

Really? Then what the heck was up with that "SOON" stuff? I've never seen them do that except before a hiatus.
