I've been thinking how amazing it would be if the season finale sets up next season to be 22 episodes of Endverse. You know...all the players are on the board exactly where they'd have to be to make that happen. Dean has said no to Michael. Castiel is human. And Sam is about to say yes to Lucifer, which could possibly result in the big "showdown in Detroit" that was mentioned in "The End."

Sigh. I doubt SPN would ever do anything that cool but just as a preemptive maneuver...I CALLED IT.

(Assless chaps optional.)

I'm trying to respond but all I can think of is kick-ass!sex-machine!end-verse!Dean. All twenty-two weeks of him.

A kind of post/mid apocalyptic decline and fall type verse - phew - that would be so grim and unrelenting we'd have to rely on Castiel's fall from grace into drugs and women as light relief. It would be a great and ambitious show - but sadly I'm sure it would be too indigestible for the CW's palate (let alone the SPN writers to tackle)...even if there was a promise of redemption at the end of The End.
Fan fic writers, on the other hand, could blast it out of the park.

I think fanfic writers have been blasting stuff like this out of the park for a while. It sure would be nice to see the actual show have a crack at it...though I more than agree with you that neither the show's current writers nor the network would be interested in pursuing such a radical direction.

Hee hee how true - I have just been catching up with your Endverse stuff that I hadn't seen before I wrote that comment! Only read the first one so far as I am travelling around and only have intermittent internet access so I downloaded the rest to read at leisure.
Loved it by the way - so damn sad. *sniff*

Mad Max II is still one of my favourite films (despite my current opinion of its lead actor) and I wish I thought the SPN team could pull something like that off.

If you can get your mind off of thigh-holsters for a second, how would you factor the whole signposted Lisa and Ben thing into this scenario?

Well, if I had MY druthers of course, there wouldn't even BE a Ben and Lisa to begin with, but if I suddenly tripped into a cosmic wormhole and came out on the other side as SPN's Season 6 showrunner, I'd probably deal with the Ben and Lisa problem by making them go the way of the late Jessie and "Sprog" Rockatansky. Sorry, folks -- there's just no room for a nuclear family in my post-apocalyptic hellscape.

You know, I just realized Max wore a thigh holster too. I can't believe I only just remembered that.

Yes, exactly that - yes. OR....we can all just go back and start reading Lazurus from the beginning, which I know won't disappoint as much as Show trying to pull this off in 40-minute time slots.

If Show had the will to do it, Show could do it. They're in their sixth season and as one of the CW's only veteran series, I'd bet they could nearly have carte blanche to do what they like. Alas, what they like to do will probably turn out to be...honestly I don't even know what. But I don't see too much epic, edge-of-your-seat drama coming out of Sera Gamble.

Just break up Lazarus into 40-minute blocks. I'll host Thursday-night bookclub! :)

OK, if anything remotely like your plan ends up happening, I'm going to be convinced that the writers have been reading your LJ! *waves to writers*

Also, sign me up for that Season 6, please. :)
