I realize neither of these was the title of the episode, but what the hell...I wouldn't even know where to begin describing how much I enjoyed that.

The X-Files titles? Fabulous.

If soulless Sam is always this much fun? I hope he never gets his soul back.

The guy in the "red cap?" Bed Edlund actually did his homework (though I don't know why he was trying to kill Dean, besides just being an evil spirit).

And just...everything Dean was doing in the episode. Everything.

Best of the season so far.

I admit, the fourth kind is a butt thing? I laughed LOUD.

And Dean was brilliant.

I didn't love it, but there really were some funny moments. And I just loved all the shoutouts. Major Tom, the Signs things.

Who WAS the guy who kept following Dean around? Was it Oberon, trying to claim his due? Cuz in theory I'm all for that, but dude was scuzzy.

Overshadowed by the grotty feeling Sam gave me throughout the ep. He's just repulsive. Skeevy. I don't know if for my taste he's just not a strong enough actor, what, but he doesn't read as soulless to me. Just disgusting. Meep.

I don't know if that was supposed to be Oberon but in folklore a Red Cap is a kind of fairy that can either be a really evil spirit (also known as Bloody Cap) or just a sort of house-elf a la Harry Potter's Dobby. I assume they were going the "evil spirit" route -- though I'm not at all clear on why he wanted to kill Dean.

Sam is grotty but this episode was so off the wall that it worked. I laughed out loud at Dean trying to explain why Sam should have been sitting in the dark suffering. Although of course, it's hard to forget that Sam pretty much acted exactly the same way when Dean was in hell...and he supposedly still HAD a soul back then.

Der, a redcap! ::smacks forehead:: Like the one from the wonderful story! Rumbly tumbly! ::is utterly blanking and yet able to quote at will:: Where the redcaps had the ginormous schlongs. And their caps were red because they were soaked in blood, and if it dried out they died. And Dean hated tunafish salad. and they ate at the all-you-can-eat place for six hours, until the manager asked them to leave.

Fuck. Whose was that. Where they ate all the time and never got full, and Bobby tortured Dean by eating barbecue in his ear. Over the phone, I mean; I don't imagine Dean's ear holds much barbecue. Maybe a bite.

::Dreamily: Although it would hold my TONGUE very well....::

LOL, I have no idea what this story is! You should take it to SPN Storyfinders!

You ever notice that Dean's ears kind of stick out a little? It's almost as adorable as the bowlegs. And MAN is he bowlegged. It's seemed especially noticeable the past few eps.

Ha! I love the slightly elfin ears and the bowlegs too. It's why I can forgive what would have otherwise been a ridiculously boring "chase" scene. I could watch this man stomp around all day.

The stomping is pretty priceless, isn't it?

That patented Dean Winchester stompy strut is thing of beauty.

It's kind of funny that as much as I enjoyed this episode, the only difference between it and good crackfic is that Mr. Edlund gets to put his crackfic up on the tee-vee.

I just love the idea of Dean being the first human to wake up say HELL NO! and ass kick his way out of fairyland. And being kind of proud of that, even if he thought it was aliens. I like having Dean represent us.

I loved it when he was all, "And I won. I won." Oh man, Jensen was really letting it rip with this episode. I usually don't enjoy the comedy eps that much because they're so slapsticky but this was just flat-out hilarious. I almost died when Sam asked Dean if he'd "serviced" Oberon and Dean just made a sick face and then there was that beat of absolute, dead silence. That? Is some funny shit.

I have a lot of overall issues with The ARC part of this episode, but Dean (and Jensen) were so utterly delightful that I'm going to handwave the annoying stuff. Also The X-Files riffing and their cracked depiction of fairies and Dean's epic battle with Tinkerbell set to David Bowie, make me forget all the sloppy characterization issues. Ding!

I know we all love BAMF!Dean but when Jensen gives him the scardy-cat look, I just want to smish him and pinch his cheeks.

Also one of my favorite moments is when he's talking about the Keebler "fairies" on the phone and he does the sideways shifty look to make sure no is listening.

Dammit but Jensen is really too good for this show. Even Jared managed to bring the funny in a totally skeevy kind of way.

The X-Files riffing

Speaking of which, this isn't the first time SPN has featured fake opening credits, and although it's always been done in jest, it always makes me yearn for the real thing. I've always wished that SPN had a real opening credits sequence. I just...I love credits. I love that pairing of the actors' images with their names, and the music and the episode clips and all of it. Good credits are an artform in themselves and few things can stick in your head like them.

Oh me too. So many shows don'y bother with credits any more and I kinda forgot how a really good credit sequence gets people emotionally invested in the episodes. The new H5-0 reminded me of that just recently actually.

They should turn the rest of the season into comedic episodes. I think that's the only way I can *get* this season Sam lol.

This Sam really works only as a comedic character...which I doubt is what they were going for.

My sister and I were cracking up over all the little things that made this ep so hilarious. My favorite was Dean's little shuffle-walk thingie he was doing while being chased by the bad fairy. OMG, awesome! And the shifty eyes.

Jared looked like he was having a blast this week. :)

The "I'm not running" shuffle-walk was especially enhanced by the bowlegs.
