I'm sitting here nursing a "silent migraine" and watching a marathon showing of The Walking Dead and once again comparing this show to Supernatural...and I'm thinking about how awful some of the spoilers for the rest of the season sound.

I mean seriously, people. A "hilarious" meta episode where Sam and Dean wake up in a parallel universe as Jared and Jensen (complete with at least one real-life, playing-herself wife)? A western episode where the boys go back in time to track down the real Samuel Colt? Are they trolling fanfic for ideas like these? If they are, you know...I don't blame them for looking to fanfic for inspiration because there's a lot of good stuff out there. But it seems like they're only reading AU crackfic, and since the show isn't able to execute AU concepts like these the way fanfic does, why try it? What exactly is their problem with playing it straight?

I really feel like they've given up all pretense of producing good television and are just horsing around while they run out the clock. This is the first time I didn't miss the show while it was on holiday hiatus and I'm not excited about its return. I actually WANT to watch the meta episode because I feel like I need to know how bad it is so that I can really write off this show if it's as bad as it sounds. But honestly...what I've heard about the whole rest of the season doesn't sound worth sticking around for anyway.

Oh thank God I am not the only viewer who feels that way. I mean seriously?! This whole season has felt like fanfic. REALLY BAD FANFIC!

TBH, I stopped caring about the show and just focused on the fanfiction.

I just think it's kind of sad. IMO, the show's quality has always been uneven. There are viewers who think the first two seasons were the best, but I think it really had its one shot of greatness during the first half of Season 4, but they lost it. They never seize those moments.

I'm sorry, but what on earth are they going to do in Season 7? They hardly seem to have enough gas to get through Season 6.

I remember when I first got into this fandom I heard talk of a renowned SPN AU that took place in the Old West. I never read it (and now I can't remember the name of it) but it had already achieved legendary status. I highly doubt that this episode will be up to that standard (and I think that story was Sam/Dean so it definitely won't be up to THAT standard LOL). I'm thinking it'll be more like the lamentable Back To The Future III.

I was telling my sister about the upcoming meta episode and she said, "ANOTHER one??" Yes, sadly. We're both getting sick of it. She re-watched seasons 1-5 during the hiatus and said, "Man, I forgot how good this show used to be."

I've mildly enjoyed a couple of episodes this season, but IMO the last truly great episode was "The End." And that was more than a year ago. LOL...I guess that really was The End!!

The whole season has been one long miserable piece of RSG fan fiction thus far (complete with taking a Dean story line - his one and only story line, mind you - and rewriting it for Sam ala a "fixit"); so, no, the upcoming fan-ficcie spoilers don't surprise me. They make me nauseous, but they don't surprise me.

Oh, and you must have missed the latest - Cas is getting a new 20-something female sidekick (read: love interest) named "Rachel". If that doesn't scream Mary Sue fan fic, I don't know what does.

ROFL! There was a time when this would have gotten my dander up in a big way but these days? I cannot say I'm surprised. There seems to be no pointless contrivance to which they won't sink these days -- there's nothing left to do but laugh your ass off at what they'll slap together next.

I think of Show with a sort of weary resignation these days, as well as a sense of such missed opportunities. Oh well. I can but hope for some more Cas and some halfway decent Dean-Cas interaction, but I have a feeling I might be about to discover Fringe in a big way. At least recording SPN will afford me the fast-forward button.

If Cas really is getting himself a sexy female sidekick, I'd abandon any hope of getting some decent Dean-Cas. The writers love planting little gay jokes into their scripts but are terrified of letting any real affection manifest between two male characters.

Oh yeah, I think these spoilers are absolutely ridiculous; could not be less excited. I hate meta-eps to begin with, but this sounds like they're caving to fannish crack completely. Ugh.

I don't even know if this is fannish crack. It's more like the WRITER'S crack. They're just entertaining themselves. I wish they'd put a little more effort into entertaining US.
