You'd think that these bastards who get their jollies out of cooking up end-times/apocalyptic deadlines *cough*Glenn Beck*cough* would at LEAST remember the international date line and hedge their bets. "Ah, yes, the Rapture will come at 6:00pm. In Chicago. Which, as we all know, is actually 9:00am tomorrow in Melbourne, Australia. And 1:00am tomorrow in Paris. But those are heathen socialist countries, so piss on 'em."
Supposedly the guy responsible for pimping this thing so hard said it would begin in Asia, in which case it's come and gone. The same guy last predicted the rapture in 1994. It's funny how there's only a rapture when there's a Democrat in the White House.
What's really pathetic is the people who believed in this. I read about one guy who cleaned out his life savings buying up advertising space to spread the word. Other people have spent the past week driving around saying farewell to all of their friends and relatives. Really? Can anyone be that stupid? Even if they are, even Jesus said "no one will know the day or the hour." Are they calling Jesus a liar?
I'm actually a bit worried about some of these people. I'd really prefer not to get up tomorrow morning and hear about them drinking the Kool-aid, you know what I mean?
I wonder what Camping expects to say to St. Peter when he arrives at the pearly gates? "I really, really thought I was right? I really, really thought all those people selling all their worldly possessions and going through their retirement savings and their children's college education funds was a good idea? I really, really thought I knew better even when scripture told me there was no way I could possibly be correct?"
I have to admit I'm not worried about these people at all. If they're stupid enough to believe that some radio-host has the inside track on the end of the world, then they'd be stupid enough to follow any huckster with a good line, and if they want to reduce themselves to penury over it, hell...let them. If they want to drink the Kool-aid, they can go ahead and do that too -- natural selection is at its best when it's weeding out the idiots.
I heard he put out a press release saying that the final fiery judgment is still on schedule for October, and that Rapture DID happen on Saturday, it's just that no one was worthy to be taken up. I guess he didn't explain why there were no global earthquakes, fires, or dead rising from their tombs.
The very first thing Camping started with in his calculations was that the world was created 11,013 years ago. That should have been everyone's first clue that something needed rethinking. These poor sods need to get out more.

Hubris. Plain and simple, and repulsive.
