Good morning. Since I abandoned my usual commitment to remaining spoiler-free all summer, I've started haunting places that I'd normally avoid, which means that I'm coming across lots of photos. None of these are spoilery, and most of you have probably already seen them, but I wanted to share, along with my habitually unkind thoughts:

I was going to say that Jared's seemingly ever-increasing size and newfound hirsuteness make him look like a werewolf, but the most recent round of photos called to mind none other than Charles Manson. I mean seriously:



What's especially amusing about this photo is Jared's enthusiasm at cozying up with this lovely young Nina Dobrev-lookalike at L.A.'s Viper Room, given that she's just his type. Look out, Genevieve!

Hey, speaking of Mrs. Padalecki, you may have heard the expression that a smile is your best accessory? Well, apparently, not for everyone:



Egads.

Jensen at least is pretty as ever, but bless his heart, he still manages to keep up his penchant for taking painfully awkward photos:



I don't know how someone who has spent more than half his life in front of the camera can sometimes look so much like he's crawling out of his skin, but Jensen pulls it off -- while simultaneously looking like he's either half asleep or needs to take a shit. All I know is that on him it's adorable. (The woman with him is Rebecca Dardanelle, Eric Kripke's assistant and author of the latest SPN tie-in novel, which Jensen is holding. Awkwardly.)

Then there's Misha Collins:



Misha is currently in Haiti. I don't know what he's doing in Haiti, but he's no doubt planning to build houses for earthquake-displaced citizens, dig clean-water wells, found a school or quite possibly several, and milk goats. After which he will give sight to the blind, walk on water, enjoy a vigorous vinyasa flow, and then travel deep into the countryside to lead a drum circle with the locals who, of course, will immediately accept him as one of their own. Who IS this guy?

Cracking up so much at your, Misha!caption :D Also Misha in a sarong! Jensen may be beautiful but- and I wish I was saying this ironically because look at that faux-pas- Misha is the prettiest.

hmphmp, have been stalking your lj because I like the way you express your opinions, and I definitely like your interest in Dean-Cas. Misha must be absolutely fearless because I can think of very few Western men who'd be okay with being seen in that outfit. And yet somehow, he makes it work. I think the BLINDING ORANGE shirt is what gets me even more than the sarong, although it does at least coordinate with the sarong and I wonder if Misha put this ensemble together himself.

No there is nothing at all awkward about that picture. Unless you mean "awkward" in the "what exactly is going on here?" sense.

I would call Misha a renaissance man- except he's a bit too hippie for the label to stick and, uhm, tbh I think he's also a bit of a bastard but one of the magnificent variety.

The shirt is very fitted- it looks like he is literally bursting out of it at the navel. He's just so neatly-packaged it makes me happyface.

You're welcome! I admit that I'm envious that you've just started reading Dean/Cas- I'd really like to be back in that first stage of love with this friendship/pairing. (I know you've written that epic Dean/Castiel endverse and ugh it is amazingballs atmospheric and hurtful :()

Also, I will just leave this here because in my head this is 2014!Cas with that efficient/impatient edge to him the way he pulls forward a little and 2014!Dean with that steady/assured stride nothing fazes (and then Sam says 'yes' and it all goes to Hell, sigh)-

I love that Misha is just a little bit shorter than Jensen. I'm so used to seeing Jensen paired up with his other, Paul Bunyan-esque co-star that it's nice to see him not looking like a pixie for a change.

I've had a soft spot for Dean/Cas since season 4 but I've never really read any, partially because I was occupied with writing my own. But now that's all I feel like doing!

Although, I really like that Cas can still intimidate Dean with his terrifying awesome-ness- despite being the 'pixie' in the relationship :p ugh, I am such an obvious Cas!girl but Cas is such a testosterone-fueled cutie-pie with the smiting and the gravelly voice, and the bamf-ing, but also looking like a fuzzy, ferocious little prickly creature.

They look like TSA agents so I thought maybe this was at an airport but neither of them has luggage. I know the adoring masses are massively adoring, but this much security still seems like overkill. They look like the Beatles at Shea Stadium!

I read two fics by aesc yesterday and they both blew me away. I'm so glad to discover these fics after finishing up my Dean/Cas series, because they would have intimidated the shit out of me.

It's also delicious to know from various vidclips that Jensen and Misha were both feeling off-kilter with and a dislike with each other when they first shot that scene- the character-bleed of that translates beautifully on-screen. I always got the feeling that Misha and Jensen didn't hit it off immediately...they are so totally different. Jensen has spent most of his life in this television bubble while Misha is so worldly and eccentric. It's just so adorable how they seem infatuated with each other now. I mean, everyone who meets Jensen is eventually captivated by him but I think Jensen is just as taken with Misha. In fact, I think he adores him a little. Maybe a lot. I love those links. Jensen just gets this intense gaze with people that he likes, it's written all over his face. SO goddamn charming, it's enough to turn you into a puddle of goo.

Watching Dean cringe, that pretty little eye-flutter and the warm-looking shiver of movement across his face in response to Castiel's cold intimidation- it's entrancing!

I love your description of Jensen&Misha! Oh they probably didn't hit it off- Jensen and Misha have both said the following about each other, and I find it amusing to caption what they said to these screencaps:

This is them two years after 4x01 aired, clearly they fell into some kind of beautiful (but trashtalking!) bromance-

Oh, of course. Jensen's like the star quarterback golden boy teacher's pet who's had everything fall in his lap, and Misha's the weird kid in black drawing freaky sketches at the back of the classroom. The fact that these two found common ground in their work and mutual respect and a very obvious fondness for each other is just...words fail me. It's too darling.

I have been thinking about how much Jensen has loosened up with Misha around.

In all seriousness, this sort of manhandling used to be almost exclusively Jared's province -- Jensen would just good-naturedly go along with it, sometimes even looking a little uncomfortable with Jared's exuberance. But boy, sometime around last summer, that sure changed. So actually, I think it's a combination of things -- Misha's bad influence, Jensen's marriage, and the waning of the relationship between the Js. Now Jensen's just letting it all hang out. So to speak.

Yes. I am well aware of the Harry Met Sally incident. All I can say is I'll have what they're having. Make it a double.
