Date: 2011-07-24 05:27 am (UTC)Okay, seriously, did Jensen really audition for Capt. America? I'm so far out of the rumor mill I don't even know for sure, only that fans talked about him possibly getting the job.
This heat is fucking scary, innit? Only a couple of intense thunderstorms in Chicago brought the temps back down to something bearable.
I take it you're referring to The Gilmore Girls? Wasn't Padalecki on that for awhile?

1. In early 2010, I read many reports that Jensen was in the running for the CA job. I assume that means that he did audition for it. I don't know if it was ever actually offered to him, but I heard that both the compensation and the contractual obligation to sign on for a multi-film franchise were not very attractive, so he may have removed himself from consideration. Even Chris Evans described how he had a panic attack over the original commitment to make nine more "Avengers" films after this one (a total which I believe was eventually reduced to six).
2. NYC was such an oven on Friday that when I walked out of my apartment the heat almost knocked me flat. Yesterday we hit triple digits again, and it seemed even more humid. Today, I got all of my outdoor activities over with by 9:00 am. At least it is cloudy today, with thunderstorms (and relief) hopefully on the way.
3. Yes, I'm talking about Gilmore Girls, the show I love to hate and hate to love. And yes, this was Jared's first major role -- he was a regular cast member for the first four seasons, playing Rory Gilmore's
chewtoyboyfriend, named Dean, of all things. He pretty much went straight from Gilmore Girls to SPN, which I think is why GG was SPN's lead-in for its first season.4. The image in your icon is so hilarious that I still can't believe it was an official CW promo poster, and not some wacky fan manip. What is up with the snake???

Date: 2011-07-24 08:37 pm (UTC)It's almost like they're advertising for a different show than the one we watch. A better show, you know? If only Sam had reached his full psychic/demonic potential.
Speaking of SPN, I just bought the anime version of the show - F.Y.E. was selling it early as part of some anime campaign they've got going. Can't wait to see what, if anything, they did different!

Date: 2011-07-25 02:28 am (UTC)For the past few years, the promos and DVD covers have been considerably more intriguing than the show itself.
If only Sam had reached his full psychic/demonic potential.
And Dean had apparently achieved sainthood. Or maybe he's an angel himself in this promo. I'll go with that.
Anime SPN -- what's the point of watching SPN without Jensen's live-action face?

Date: 2011-07-25 04:14 am (UTC)Two things you should know, then.
Good: Jensen and Jared personally introduce each episode, both wearing T-shirts and offering up a healthy dose of arm porn. (For me, after years of them wearing layers, seeing them in T-shirts has become a kink of sorts.)
Bad: Jared does animated Sam's voice, but Jensen doesn't do Dean's until the final two episodes. The man doing Dean's voice (Andrew Farrar) isn't bad, but it's sligthly jarring to hear Jared's voice dialouging with someone who obviously isn't Jensen. I hope he'll be available for this show's second season.
I guess I just wanted to see if this cartoon would give us something the original show isn't anymore, or never did. And in some ways it is. Enough to make up for the lack of Jensen in both face and voice? Jury's still out.
